The University of Northwestern Ohio chapter of the Business Professionals of America (BPA) claimed 11 first place awards during the Ohio BPA state competition held February 27th and 28th at the UNOH campus in Lima, Ohio. Overall, 7 UNOH students qualified for the National BPA Competition!
UNOH students placed in all 21 competitive events they entered capturing 10 first place finishes, 4 second place awards, 2 fourth place awards, and 1 fifth place award in individual competition! Seven students in the UNOH chapter of BPA qualified for the national competition, to be held May 5 – May 10 in Anaheim, California, during the BPA National Leadership Conference. The UNOH BPA students are: Aaron Dickerson, Nicole Holcomb, Eric Lochtefeld, Ashleigh Mangini, Dawn Murphy, Jason Rue, and Chase Vance. The University of Northwestern Ohio BPA advisor is Dr. Robyn King-VanDyne. In addition to the individual awards, the Small Business Management Team, made up of Ashley Mangini, Eric Lochtefeld, Chase Vance, and Aaron Dickerson, took first place overall.
UNOH student Jason Rue was named President of the Post-Secondary association, and Ashley Mangini was named State Secretary. Chase Vance was one of two students to receive a $500 scholarship in recognition of his outstanding academic credentials and service to the university's BPA chapter.
The Business Professionals of America organization, formed in l966, seeks to contribute to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic, and technological skills. Currently, there are over 600 BPA chapters nationwide at the College/University level. Eleven chapters exist in the State of Ohio.
