UNOH AMA Chapter Wins Big at National Conference

Posted on Tuesday, March 31, 2015

The University of Northwestern Ohio’s Collegiate Chapter of the American Marketing Association received a number of awards at the AMA’s 37th Annual International Collegiate Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana held March 19 to March 21, 2015.

The UNOH Chapter of AMA received the “Exemplary Collegiate Chapter Performance” award!  This designation is impressive as it is only the club’s second year of formal partnership with the American Marketing Association.  The Exemplary performance award was due to the 3 outstanding rankings the chapter received: Outstanding Membership, Outstanding Chapter Planning, and Outstanding Internal/External Communications.  The chapter placed in the top 40 performing chapters out of the more than 350 chapters in existence in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico!  This ranking puts them in the top 15% of operating clubs within AMA.

To qualify for these awards, the UNOH Chapter of AMA had to submit a Chapter Plan along with an Annual Report.  The student-led AMA Chapter began work on their Chapter Plan and Annual Report in Fall Quarter and submitted the final version in February, 2015.

UNOH AMA President, Chase Vance, traveled to New Orleans with three fellow club members, Connor Rammel, Daniel Goncalves, and Emily Dillon.  Advisor, Dr. Susan Mann accompanied the group.  All four students received certificates in American Marketing Association Collegiate Role Playing, and Relationship Selling.

Vance said of his experience, “When we were in the large ballroom and our University was called for the award on the big screen we were stunned … what we achieved as a chapter has given us the confidence to return to campus with more resources and ideas for new initiatives next year.  Attending this conference has allowed all of us to network with marketing professionals around the country and bring national attention to the UNOH Chapter of AMA.”

Vance was also recognized for being a student judge of National Marketing Week submissions, and Dr. Mann was recognized for judging website submissions throughout the year and chapter exhibits at the conference.
