The University of Northwestern Ohio will be holding a Celebration Rally for students and staff to commemorate the 2016 NAIA Championship won by the Women’s Soccer Team in December.
The rally will take place at the UNOH Event Center’s Presidential Hall January 31, 2017 starting at 1:30pm. At the rally, players will each receive their championship ring presented to them by Head Coach Stuart Gore and UNOH President Dr. Jeffrey A. Jarvis.
The Racers opened the season as the No. 3 team in the 2016 Coaches’ Preseason Top 25 Poll before concluding the year with its first ever top ranking following its championship victory.
The team suffered just two losses on the season while outscoring its opponents 99-11. Throughout the schedule, UNOH faced off against 10 nationally-ranked competitors and held a record of eight victories, one defeat, and one tie. UNOH tied its own Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference record with an NAIA-leading 20 shutouts.
Other notable accomplishments include the program winning its third straight WHAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships along with various individual player awards. Among those awards were the Racers’ first ever NAIA Women’s Soccer Player of the Year with Klara Cahynova, NSCAA NAIA Player of the Year with Camilla Andersen, and NAIA and NSCAA NAIA Coach of the Year, Stuart Gore.
