Ten University of Northwestern Ohio Travel and Hotel Management students and two chaperones leave April 20, 2017, for a four-day Western Caribbean Cruise. The Carnival “Sensation” leaves Miami, Florida on the afternoon of April 20th with port stops at Key West, Florida and Cozumel, Mexico, including one full day at sea. The cruise will return to port in Miami, Florida on the morning of April 24th.
Prior to the trip, students were informed on the logistics associated with the cruise experience including the process of gaining a passport, traveling to and from the dock, security with traveling, excursion experiences and “things-to-do” on the cruise, site seeing and more.
The cruise is included in the curriculum for students pursuing an associate’s degree in Travel and Hotel Management. The trip allows students to get a real-world experience of a cruise before graduation. Being able to experience a cruise first-hand will give the students a certain level of understanding about what their future clients will be looking for when booking a cruise.
Following completion of their associate’s degree, students can opt to pursue a Bachelor’s degree at the University of Northwestern Ohio in Specialized Studies.
