The 2017 Amsoil Engine Masters Challenge will be held at the University of Northwestern Ohio’s High Performance Motorsports Complex located at 1744 Hartzler Road in Lima, Ohio, October 2nd through 5th. The University has proved to be an ideal setting for the Engine Masters Challenge and UNOH is proud to host the event for an eleventh straight year. Assisting with the competition will be the faculty from UNOH’s High Performance Department; including division heads Randy Lucius and Paul Higgins, and forty students from the university’s College of Applied Technologies program.

The 2017 Amsoil Engine Masters Challenge is presented by TEN: The Enthusiast Network, publishers of Hot Rod, Engine Masters, and many other related magazines and digital media. This is the largest, most renowned, dyno racing event in the world. The 2017 competition is bound to be better than ever featuring two different engine classes for competitive engine builders and fans of all makes and all budgets!

The competition classes are Vintage and Traditional Muscle. The Vintage class encourages competitors to think outside of the box and revive unique and often-forgotten engine architectures with new-age horsepower techniques. The Traditional Muscle category includes both big and small blocks from 1955 and later production cars using required street-style heads. A winner and runner up will be crowned in each category earning cash prizes.

Scoring is based on the average horsepower and torque of three runs to make sure the motors are consistent. All dyno pulls must be done within a 35-minute time limit. Each team leader may make any changes or any number of pulls during the testing period but once the 35 minutes is up, the team leader will select the three pulls to be used for scoring purposes.

The University of Northwestern Ohio is the only High Performance/ Motorsports University to ever host the Challenge.
