All of the UNOH new students are officially moved in for the fall of 2017! Classes are back in session, which means the annual Welcome Week was in full swing from September 10th through 14th! Welcome Week provides opportunities for UNOH students to interact with new people while having tremendous amounts of fun playing games and enjoying delicious food! Many students agree that this is the best week of the school year. On Tuesday September 12, 2017, students had the opportunity to participate in the Club Fair, which gives them insight on all the amazing clubs and organizations on and around the UNOH campus while playing games and earning prizes.

“I had multiple questions about The American Marketing Association and all my questions were answered and now I and strongly considering joining the club!” commented Andres Medina, a Junior and UNOH baseball player.

Alongside the Club Fair was the Carnival Day which filled the open area behind Barnes and Noble on the west end of campus and transformed it into an oasis of blowup obstacle courses and games.  The activities provided endless laughs and memories for new and returning students.  As students and faculty participated in the games, they earned tickets which ‘paid’ for everything from a T-shirt to fair food staples like Cheese-on-a-stick.

Ryan Close, a UNOH Junior and soccer player said, “I really enjoyed the human foosball game, it allowed for some healthy competition among my peers.”

Once students got their fill with the Carnival fun they made their way over to the mud volleyball finals where mud was flying and the competition was high. “The A Team” including Emilio Deleon, Nick Henry, Kirstin Hicks, and Taylor Balderson were triumphant, winning a cash prize for each player and bragging rights until next year’s competition!

Taylor, a junior year softball player stated, “It was a lot of fun and it was a great opportunity to meet new people.”

Next up was the famous half chicken dinner, which was a huge hit among the UNOH students. There were more people gathered for the free dinner than this writer has ever witnessed on campus! Once everyone was full with smiles on their faces, a free concert on the lawn began.  Joshua Melton was the opening act, and did you know - he is a Findlay native who is an up-coming country artist!  The headlining act was The Morrison Brothers Band straight from Nashville, who most recently opened for Lynyrd Skynyrd!

“They were really good and talented,” said Sandy Woodmansee, a Junior at UNOH. “They had a lot of original songs that they performed.”

Both Joshua Melton and The Morrison Brothers Band sang multiple songs and sets finishing up the night around 10:00pm.

The week’s events continued with a tournament game night at Racers Station Wednesday night, followed by the UNOH Chapter of the American Marketing Association’s Bash on Thursday evening.   Overall, friends were made, stomachs were full, and laughs were shared … until next year Welcome Week!
