The University of Northwestern Ohio has been approved by the State of Ohio and the Ohio Department of Higher Education as an eligible institution in the OhioMeansJobs Workforce Revolving Loan Program for a total of $100,000.  UNOH students from Ohio currently enrolled in Diesel coursework can apply for loans through OhioMeansJobs to help offset the cost of tuition.

The purpose of the Revolving Loan Program, according to OhioMeansJobs, is to promote and encourage Ohio’s workforce development and job growth through educational training and retraining in programs related to employment opportunities in growing fields. The University of Northwestern Ohio first had to qualify as an eligible institution, and then UNOH’s Diesel programs had to be approved by the Chancellor in order for Ohio students enrolled in such courses to be eligible for loans.

Consistent with the goals of the Loan Program, UNOH’s Diesel coursework will provide opportunities for Ohioans to acquire critical education and training, which will advance their careers and prepare them to enter the workforce in a field that is expected to grow substantially in the coming years. Current industry experts predict a demand for 67,000 new diesel technicians and 75,000 new diesel engine specialists by 2022 to fill positions due to growth and retirements.

For information on how to apply for these loans, UNOH students, who are also Ohio residents, can contact the University of Northwestern Ohio Financial Aid Department.
