Armbruster Accepts Position at North Carolina Wesleyan

Mike Armbruster, the Director of Athletic Operations and Head Women's Basketball Coach at the University of Northwestern Ohio, has accepted an Assistant Athletic Director position at North Carolina Wesleyan College, a NCAA Division III institution located in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.

Armbruster was the head coach for the Racer women's basketball team for four seasons, with the 2018-19 and 2015-16 squads qualifying for the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament.

"I want to thank President Dr. Jarvis and Athletic Director Chris Adams for the amazing opportunities they provided to me over the last twelve years at UNOH," said Armbruster. "The life lessons learned, personal and professional development experienced, and relationships built, are things that cannot be quantified when looking at the impact this institution has had in my life. Leaving the returning and committed UNOH Women's Basketball student-athletes, all the coaches in the UNOH Athletic Department, and multiple staff members is extremely hard; all of them have not only been outstanding to work with, but also have become a second family to me."

"My wife Brittany and I are very excited about the opportunity to take on a new challenge at North Carolina Wesleyan College," added Armbruster. "I am grateful for NC Wesleyan's President Dr. Dewey Clark, and Athletic Director Aaron Denton, for giving me the opportunity to work with them and a great group of coaches at NCWC in the coming years."

Prior to his tenure as head women's basketball coach, Armbruster spent eight seasons as the top assistant with the UNOH men's basketball program and one prior season assisting on the UNOH women's bench. He won 12 of 16 games in his only season as the men's junior varsity head coach in 2014-15.

"Mike Armbruster has been a staple in the revitalization process of sports here at UNOH for the past twelve years," said Adams. "He has devoted his energy to both the Athletic Department and the Women's basketball program with persistence, class, and diligence during his tenure here. We would like to wish Mike the best of luck in his new athletic administrative endeavor at North Carolina Wesleyan College."
