UNOH students show off medals from HOSA Leadership Conference

Four students from the University of Northwestern Ohio’s Health Careers Club competed at the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA)-Future Health Professionals State Leadership Conference in Columbus, Ohio this spring.  This is the first year for UNOH’s participation in the event and the first time UNOH has been affiliated with the HOSA National Association.

Diamond Williams came in first place in Prepared Speaking, Josh Schrock and Danielle Crouch placed second in Medical Innovation, and Allison Lefeld came in third place in Medical Terminology.

HOSA-Future Health Professionals is an international student organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Its mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. The organization provides a program complete with leadership development, motivation and recognition exclusively for collegiate students enrolled in health science and biomedical science programs.

The competitive events, planned at regional and national conferences, are designed to motivate HOSA members and to provide a system for recognizing the competencies developed by students through their collegiate coursework, job training, and related activities.

All four UNOH students placed at the international level and now have the opportunity to compete at the international competition taking place in Orlando, Florida June 19-22, 2019.

The students, along with their majors and hometowns are:

  • Danielle Crouch – Medical Office Management/Healthcare Administration – Elida, Ohio
  • Allison Lefeld – Health Information Technology – St. Henry, Ohio.
  • Josh Schrock – Health Information Technology/Healthcare Administration – Greenville, Ohio
  • Diamond Williams – Medical Assisting Technology/Healthcare Administration – Ypsilanti, Michigan

Congratulations from all of us at UNOH!
