Sport Marketing Grad Takes Her Talents to the TinCaps

The passion for sports has always been present in Brenda Feasby’s life, and that passion lead her to the University of Northwestern Ohio where she studied Sport Marketing and Management and was a student athlete on the Softball team. After graduating with her Bachelor’s Degree in 2018, Brenda continued her education at UNOH and is currently on her way to earn her Master’s Degree in Business Administration in the summer of 2020.

Brenda wanted to get some experience in the Sport Marketing field while she works toward her MBA online, and decided to take on the role as the Community Engagement Intern for the Fort Wayne TinCaps this season. The TinCaps are a Minor League Baseball team based in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

In this position, Brenda will enjoy a wide variety of responsibilities from organizing Kids Club Member events to game day field promotions. She also has the opportunity to manage the TinCap’s mascot, Johnny TinCap. Brenda has some experience in her back pocket in this area as she performed as UNOH’s mascot, Torque, for three years while obtaining her Bachelor’s degree.

“UNOH helped prepare me for this in several ways. The sports classes I took opened the door to new ideas, rules, and concepts that have helped propel me further in the sporting and marketing world. I was given the classes and experience I needed to help get me in the spot that I am in now,” Brenda said.

The Sport Marketing and Management degree requires internships as a core competency of the program which gives students the chance to get real world experience before landing full-time jobs. Brenda took advantage of everything UNOH has to offer for students – out of class experiences, student activities, and becoming part of student organizations.

Brenda loves what she does and says that UNOH helped her get there stating, “UNOH showed me that if we work hard at what we want and what we really believe in, anything is possible. I am currently doing what I love and having the best time at it. I have high hopes for others who wish to travel down the same path as me, so they too can say they love what they do.”

The ability to get involved and being more than just a number was another important reason why Brenda chose to attend UNOH.  Small class sizes and opportunities to work one-on-one with professors and students helped Brenda feel confident moving forward. She said, “I am blessed to have been able to spend four years at a school that helped me excel and get to where I am now within an industry I am passionate about.”

Once Brenda completes her MBA next summer from UNOH, she believes there are even more opportunities to accept and goals to be reached in her future.
