Students Gather on Campus Before Parker Oldenettel Benefit Cruise
Students at the University of Northwestern Ohio, with the leadership of Instructor Chris Marker, organized the 2nd Annual Parker Oldenettel Benefit Car Meet/Cruise last month. Parker was a student at UNOH just weeks away from graduating when he passed away after a motorcycle accident in 2018. Parker was well-liked at UNOH and after his death, friends and fellow students came together and organized a benefit ride to help his family pay for funeral expenses.
In the months after his passing, Parker’s family set up a scholarship fund for his high school that benefits a student who has chosen to attend the University of Northwestern Ohio. Funds raised during the 2nd Annual Benefit Cruise will go towards this scholarship fund.
The cruise was open to all makes and models of vehicles and motorcycles, and all students, faculty, and alumni were invited as well as members of the community. There was no cost to register, but donations were accepted. This year more than 30 bikes, trucks, and cars and more than 50 people participated in the cruise raising over $600 for Parker’s scholarship fund.
