Dr. Holly Norton, UNOH Professor

Dr. Holly Norton's poem "Foaling" was accepted for inclusion in the Women of Appalachia Project's "Women Speak" program which includes spoken word, music, and fine arts exhibitions in West Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio. Norton, an English and General Education professor, has been employed at UNOH since 1999.

Dr. Norton is scheduled to read her poem at West Virginia University and Northern Kentucky University in late fall 2019, with other possible readings in Ohio scheduled for spring 2020.

According to Kari Gunter-Seymour, Poet Laureate of Athens, Ohio, and Founder/Executive Director of the Women of Appalachia Project, the mission of "Women Speak" is "to provide the opportunity for a diverse group of woman artists to exhibit their work, receive recognition and encouragement so they might continue to thrive, and to expose the community to one of Appalachian Ohio’s greatest assets, its artists." Participation in the program includes publication in the Women of Appalachia's "Women Speak" anthology.
