UNOH Rotaract members deliver gifts to a local family in need
It was a very Merry Christmas for one local family thanks to the UNOH Rotaract club! Once again, the UNOH Rotaract club worked with the Lima Rotary club to collect money for the Adopt-a-Family effort in Lima/Allen County. The club baked…yes, baked in our dorm ovens…cookies, brownies, and other sweets to sell at a Rotary meeting and around campus to help raise money for this effort.
Thanks to the collection, the club was able to make enough money to make a family's Christmas wishes come true. The club “adopted” a family of three – mom, 3-year old son, and newborn. Our UNOH students shopped for the fun gifts for the family (NERF toys, books, rattles, and the like), while also having money for the needs of the family (diapers, sheets, blankets, and food items).
Just before Christmas, Club president, Mayce McCreery; Club VP, Will McCarthy; Club Secretary, Diamond Williams; and club advisor, Tim Fitzpatrick, delivered the van full of presents to the family’s home. The family was very excited. In fact, the little 3 year old boy was extremely excited to see his name on presents AND see that some of them came from Santa!
The UNOH Rotaract Club is currently recruiting more members to join the team because service events like this could be done more often, making every day like Christmas!!
