As part of the Federal Coronavirus Relief and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA), the US Department of Education has allocated funds from the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF II) to the University of Northwestern Ohio to provide Emergency Grants to students because of the continuing COVID-19 pandemic.

UNOH will be offering Emergency Grants ranging from $1,500 to $2,100 to eligible students who fill out an application. Students must meet eligibility requirements, and demonstrate a financial need due to the pandemic.

These Emergency Grants can be used for tuition and university expenses, living expenses, or other unexpected financial challenges related to the pandemic including food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child care incurred after December 27, 2020.

In order to receive these funds, students must have enrolled and attended courses on or after December 27, 2020, must have a 2020-2021 FAFSA on file with the University, and must have a financial need as defined by the FAFSA.  In addition, students must meet all guidelines as determined by UNOH and the U.S. Department of Education.  A list of these eligibility requirements can be found here https://www.unoh.edu/HEERFIIGrant. Any student meeting those requirements MUST fill out an application for an Emergency Grant located in the MyUNOH portal (https://my.unoh.edu).

Applications will be reviewed as they are received.  Funds will be disbursed until they are exhausted. For those eligible, the Emergency Grant will be posted to the student’s account and depending on payment preferences will be used to cover university charges, or a check or direct deposit will be processed within 30 days of receipt of the application.  Final due date for applications is June 1, 2021.

In order to receive the Emergency Grant funds in a timely manner, the University encourages students to sign up for direct deposit.  Step-by-step instructions to setup direct deposits are available on the MyUNOH portal.

In these unprecedented times, it’s important to care for ourselves, our families and those in our communities. Many students are facing financial hardships and these Emergency Grants will allow the University to assist those students.
