UNOH Grad Finds Success as Allen County Treasurer

Born and raised in Allen County, Ohio, UNOH graduate, Krista Bohn has journeyed through life in the Lima region. Krista now serves the community that gave her so much as the Treasurer of Allen County.

When Krista graduated from Allen East High School, she knew she wanted to continue her education and study Business Administration locally so she could commute between school and home. UNOH appealed to her for the Business Administration program because of the well-rounded base of knowledge that came with the degree.

During Krista’s time at UNOH, she was involved on campus with the Business Professionals of America organization and went to nationals with BPA in 2007. In 2008, the UNOH BPA Chapter traveled to the national competition in Reno, Nevada where Krista took her knowledge and presentation skills to the next level and placed third overall for their small business plan and presentation.

“I would say one of the things with my degree being in Business Administration, I had such a well-rounded knowledge base that's actually propelled my career to where I am today,” Krista stated. “Without knowing all those different aspects of how to run a business, I don't know that I would have gotten to the same place professionally.”

Prior to becoming the Treasurer of Allen County, Krista utilized and built her knowledge throughout the county. She used her human resources skills first serving as the Chief Deputy of Finance within prior to the Treasurer’s office for the three years before being appointed as Treasure.

Krista is now working hard to building efficiencies, modernizing programs, lowering delinquency rates, and increasing interest on county investments. “I feel like I received a great education while I was at UNOH,” Krista exclaimed. “I learned a lot. I always continually learn every day, but being from Allen County, I pride myself in that as well because I’m actually not too far away from the school that means a lot to me.”

The university is proud to have alumni serving our community and excited to see the impact Krista has on Allen County.
