New student moves into College Park dorms.
The University of Northwestern Ohio welcomed students back to campus this weekend in preparation for the start of classes this fall. Nearly 400 students from 34 different states moved in this weekend. August 22nd is the first day of classes for these students enrolled in the College of Applied Technologies fall session. Programs of study in the College of Applied Technologies include: High Performance Motorsports, Automotive Technology, Diesel Technology, Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Technology, Agricultural Equipment Technology, Robotics & Automation Technology, and HVAC/R Technology. In September, approximately 400 more students enrolled in the Colleges of: Business, Health Professions, Occupational Professions will move in. Their fall quarter classes start on September 12.
As students move in, they will be assisted by UNOH RACER Leaders along with faculty and staff throughout the day. Incoming students are invited to special events all weekend long at Racers Station to help them meet one another and make new friends before classes begin.
"Our biggest thing is Welcome Week coming up in the beginning of September," explained Stephanie Malloy, UNOH vice president of public relations and marketing. "There's Carnival Day and free food and a lot of mixer type events to get students to meet each other so our biggest thing is we want to make UNOH their new home, home away from home really. They have classes Monday through Thursday for some, Monday through Friday for others and it just allows them to find a place that they can come, become themselves and learn that profession that they want to make a career out of."
Nearly 3,500 students are slated to attend the University of Northwestern Ohio this fall, with 1,000 students living in campus dorms this year.
According to the Allen Economic Development Group, The University of Northwestern Ohio has an impact of over $250 million dollars on the local economy every year.
