UNOH Administration, LIma Mayor, and Student Accept $10,000 Check for UNOH School of the Year Award
WIX® Filters, a global innovator and manufacturer of filtration products, in conjunction with Tomorrow’s Technician, has selected the University of Northwestern Ohio, Lima, OH, as the 2024-2025 School of the Year.
“For more than a century, the University of Northwestern Ohio has been a leader in developing experts to serve the automotive, diesel, and performance industries,” said Carmina Lopez, Brand Manager for WIX Filters. “The commitment of all involved at the school is inspiring and impressive. We salute their legacy and are honored to award UNOH the 2024/25 School of the Year award.”
The University of Northwestern Ohio is the 16th recipient of the annual program, which salutes the best technical training schools in the country. WIX Filters and O’Reilly Auto Parts sponsor the national award in conjunction with Tomorrow’s Technician, a Babcox Media property dedicated to automotive students.
“At the University of Northwestern Ohio, we’ve always prided ourselves on delivering a world-class technical education to students from across the globe. To be recognized by respected industry leaders like WIX Filters and Tomorrow’s Technician is an incredible honor,” said Dr. Jeffrey A. Jarvis, President of UNOH. “Our graduates are trained with the real-world skills necessary to succeed in the automotive, diesel, HVAC, robotics, and high-performance motorsports industries across the country. This recognition is a testament to the passion and dedication of our faculty, staff, and students.”
The School of the Year competition is open to all high schools or post-secondary schools participating in Tomorrow’s Technician’s newsletters, website, or LMS (learning management system). Tomorrow’s Technician, a Babcox Media brand, is the only national media outlet dedicated to supporting educators and students in transportation-related schools. Schools are invited to submit videos highlighting their programs.
“Since joining Babcox Media and Tomorrow’s Technician to support the School of the Year program in 2009, we’ve met thousands of teachers, students, and graduates from amazing schools all across the country,” said Lopez. “We understand how vital it is to invest in future generations of tradespeople to spark inspiration and innovation in our global automotive community, as well as those leading the charge – the dedicated professionals in the classrooms.”
As the winning school, UNOH receives:
“Investing in these students is investing in the future of our industry,” said Marcus Hays, O’Reilly senior director of Paint, Body and Equipment Sales and Special Markets. “We’re honored to play a role in celebrating their achievements and recognizing outstanding educational programs that are training the next generation of automotive professionals.”
“We understand how much effort goes into developing these top-level programs, and it’s truly our honor to receive so many inspiring entries. It’s never an easy process to select just one winner from the incredible list of schools that enter this contest each year,” said Doug Kaufman, editorial director of Tomorrow’s Tech. “All of the schools that participate should be commended for their dedication to developing the next generation of automotive professionals. From instructors to students to administrators and advisory boards, we applaud their commitment and thank them for their participation.”
