UNOH Students Visit GROB Systems

UNOH Cost Accounting Students visit GROB Systems in Bluffton, Ohio

This spring, Cost Accounting students were treated to a site visit at GROB Systems in Bluffton, Ohio. The students were able to get an in-depth look at the daily responsibilities and expectations that the financial operations group faces at the plant. GROB is a global manufacturer of various parts, production units, and assembly lines used in various industries such as automotive, aerospace, and energy. Headquartered in Mindelheim, Germany, GROB has production sites in Brazil, China, Italy, India, and Bluffton.
During the trip, students took a tour of the 160,000 square foot manufacturing facility followed by an extensive discussion with Matt Beaty, financial controller. GROB was very transparent with the UNOH students, as they shared, in great detail, the intricacies of proper cost allocation methods, variance reporting, product pricing, and tax implications among other topics.
"We talk about it in class, but actually being there and seeing it is fascinating. I really enjoyed being able to ask questions and have an open conversation about all aspects of GROB," said UNOH accounting student, Angelina Woods.
This marks the second visit by the University of Northwestern Ohio studednts to GROB’s accounting department, reflecting the continued growth of a strong partnership between the two organizations. In a significant development, GROB extended a personal invitation for visiting students to submit their résumés as they launch their inaugural accounting internship program. GROB has specifically identified UNOH accounting students as ideal candidates for this new opportunity.
